What we collect
- Account: your name, email, password (stored only as a one-way hash), and if you add them, phone, college, graduation year, city, LinkedIn link and a short bio. If you sign in with Google we receive your name and email from Google.
- Learning: the courses you join, lesson and task progress, quiz answers and scores, your final demo links, and your internship certificate.
- Submissions: the GitHub repository and commit you hand in, and your GitHub username once you connect GitHub. The access token GitHub gives us is stored encrypted.
- Payments: your orders, amounts, coupon and GST receipt. Razorpay handles the payment itself; we never receive your card number or UPI PIN.
- Referral payouts: if you ask for a reward payout, your UPI ID or bank account and PAN, stored encrypted and shown to our staff only when they pay you.
- Technical: sign-in times, IP address for security and rate limits, and a record of changes made to your account.
Why we use it
- To run your account, courses and internship, and to let mentors review your work.
- To take payments, send receipts and keep the tax records the law requires.
- To issue certificates and let anyone check a certificate you share with them.
- To email you about your account, enrollments, reviews, deadlines and certificates.
- To keep the platform secure and stop abuse such as password guessing or referral fraud.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Who sees it
- Mentors of your cohort see your name, submissions and progress so they can review your work.
- Our staff see what they need to support you and run the platform. Every staff change to your account is logged.
- Your public profile shows only what you choose, and only if you make it public. Anyone with a certificate's code can see the name on it, the course, the dates and the score band.
- Service providers who process data for us: Razorpay (payments), our email delivery provider, and our cloud hosting and file storage. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account we remove your personal data within 30 days, except what we must or legitimately need to keep:
- Orders and GST receipts, for as long as Indian tax law requires.
- Referral payout records, for the same reason.
- Certificates you earned, with the name printed on them, so that anyone you shared one with can still verify it.
- The record of changes made to accounts, which points to your account by an internal ID.
Your rights
You can:
- see and correct your details on your account page, and choose what your public profile shows;
- ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to delete your account from the account page, or by writing to hello@asematic.com;
- withdraw consent for optional uses, such as your public profile, at any time;
- name someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to;
- complain to our grievance officer, and if you are not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.
Security
Passwords are hashed, payout details and GitHub tokens are encrypted, connections use HTTPS, and staff access is limited and logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
Children
The platform is meant for adults. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to your use of it, and we do not track or target children with advertising.
